After vowing for decades that this column’s prose would never be mired in the cybermuck of the blogosphere, At Quaquanantuck is currently working hard to master some rudimentary internet, email, and blogging technology so that the column can rise, like a phoenix from the ashes, in some virtual, online avatar of its never-to-be-seen-again previous material form in glorious ink impressed on newsprint.
Of course, those of you who have grown accustomed to reading the column on the 27east.com website know that this romantic single-platform view of publishing is already almost as passé as the rotary dial telephone. Having worked full-time in all aspects of print journalism for more than 20 years, however, before shifting over to the world of academe, it is taking this barely computer literate columnist a little time to catch up.
To those of you who have already expressed an interest in the column continuing and have provided me with your email addresses, my sincere thanks. The plan is, at the start, to notify you by email each time a new post, or column, is published on this new website, which is clearly still in the formative stages. Eventually, I hope to have the capacity to publish a photo or photos to run with the columns, and perhaps a more interesting graphic/website design. Guess we’ll see.
For those of you who have found your way to this site by any other means than email notification and would like to be apprised of new posts, I would ask that you send an email to AtQuaq@gmail.com and let me know that you’d like to have your email address added to the subscriber list now in formation.
With luck and compliant technology, there will be an At Quaquanantuck column posted to this site sometime during the week beginning January 9, 2017. Thanks for your patience and your support. Remember, it takes a village to raise a column. At Quaquanantuck recognizes that there could be no better community to serve than Quogue.
